Harlem Globetrotter with one serious backboard-shattering dunk

Now that is how you shatter a backboard.

That is former University of Cincinatti star and current Harlem Globetrotter Darnell Wilks with the truly impressive dunk during a Globetrotters game in Ecuador. In the USA there are breakaway rims and major arenas have another backboard set up in back to be wheeled out and put in place. In Ecuador… that could have been the end of the show. Thanks for coming everybody.

Video: Globetrotters, Dude Perfect and some crazy shots

For your Thanksgiving evening entertainment, how about a trick shot video with Dude Perfect (you’ve seen them here before) and the Harlem Globetrotters. How you going to beat that? NFL football? Ha. (Okay, maybe that is better.)

Best part for me, that is Amazing Race veteran Big Easy trying to hit the fishing pole shot. And looking like he did on the race a few times.

Happy Thanksgiving and enjoy. (Hat tip to Ball Don’t Lie)

Trainer for Harlem Globetrotters shot to death

Tragic news out of Denver.

Thomas Bashline, the trainer for the Harlem Globetrotters, was found shot to death in a D home, according to the Denver Post.

A woman at the home called sheriff’s deputies at 4:30 p.m. Friday claiming that her boyfriend was unresponsive, Martinez said.

The woman had been at work and found Bashline’s body in the bedroom. There was no sign of a robbery in the home, but sources say Bashline’s pickup truck was found in Boulder.

Bashline had been preparing for a trip to China with the team when the shooting took place.

Our condolences go out to the friends and family of Bashline and the Harlem Globetrotters.

Harlem Globetrotters offer LeBron James, Dwyane Wade ownership to come play

Thumbnail image for LeBron_game4.jpgWell, there’s one offer Mikhail Prokhorov or Dan Gilbert can’t make.

The Harlem Globetrotters have already reached out to LeBron James and made him an offer — part ownership of the team. Brian Windhorst of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported this via twitter.

In a serious effort/marketing move, the Harlem Globetrotters are making a pitch to sign LeBron & Dwyane Wade & offering ownership. They will offer 51 percent of revenue from licensed merchandise sales with no limit plus part ownership. Well, they haven’t lost since ’71.

Globetrotters are at least attempting it, they have contacted Wade & LeBron’s representatives.

It’s more marketing move than serious effort, but a clever one.

And before you ask — NBA rules prohibit players from being owners, so nobody can make that offer to LeBron. Because otherwise you know that would be on the table.
