Ben Simmons played 145 NBA games, including 10 in the playoffs, without shooting a non-heave 3-pointer. The point guard was often left wide open beyond the arc, mucking up the 76ers’ spacing. He got called a coward and worse.
Finally, he launched a legitimate 3 during Philadelphia’s win over the Lakers yesterday.
Simmons pulled up from beyond the arc early in the third quarter, and his shot rimmed out. But maybe that attempt will give him confidence to let fly more regularly.
He’s already a star without that element of his game. If Simmons develops even a keep-them-honest 3-pointer, that’d take him and the 76ers to the next level.
