Kristaps Porzingis ‘healing well;’ will be re-evaluated mid-February

Last month, Knicks’ coach David Fizdale said Kristaps Porzingis wasn’t at the point in his recovery from a torn ACL that he was running yet, to which Porzingis responded by posting a video on Instagram of himself sprinting.

Porzingis has been working hard on his recovery, and Friday the Knicks released this update:

The Knicks are not thinking playoffs this season, they will not rush Porzingis back, what matters most is him getting fully healthy. Recovery from a torn ACL takes time and a lot of rehab hours.

Ideally, the Knicks might like to get Porzingis back on the court for a few games near the end of the season. Think Paul George in his return from his gruesome leg injury with Team USA, he played the final six games of the next season, and that gave him a comfort level and jump-start into the off-season of rehab and conditioning.

No doubt Porzingis would like to play some games this season, we should get a better sense around the All-Star break if that is going to happen.
