It all started with a typo in the game notes for the Lakers at Spurs game in San Antonio Friday night.
Someone accidentally listed LeBron James as a rookie. LeBron jokingly posted that on Instagram, saying he was going to go after Rookie of the Year (an award he already won in 2004).

Tonight’s game notes here in San Antonio. 🤔Am I?!?!? Why does it seem like I know so much this game has to offer for just being a “R”(rookie). 🤷🏾♂️. Well means I was taught right and still got so much more to learn. But in the meantime I’m going for “Rookie of The Year” 🏆 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
To which Ben Simmons said he was going to keep his title and win ROY again. (A joke at the expense of the many people who said he shouldn’t have won last year because it was his second season with the Sixers, despite the fact he didn’t play as a rookie.)
We’ll check the rulebook, but we’re reasonably sure you can’t win Rookie of the Year twice.
Luka Doncic is having an impressive rookie season and is the early frontrunner for Rookie of the Year, but if LeBron’s eligible I’m going to have to vote for him.
(It’s a joke people… although as good as Doncic has been I’d still take LeBron’s rookie season over it.)
