Traded from Toronto to the Spurs, DeMar DeRozan said Masai Ujiri lied to him and declared his relationship with the Raptors president finished.

Still in Toronto, Lowry has also given Ujiri the cold shoulder.

Lowry on DeRozan, on ESPN:

I felt betrayed because he felt betrayed, because that’s my guy. That’s my best friend. So, yeah, I felt some type of way on the personal side. It’s a harsh business. It’s a great business. But sometimes moves are made that you’re like, “Wow, that sucks.”

It’s very complicated.

That’s reasonable. Sometimes, you just have to be mad at someone because your friend is mad at him.

I also appreciate Lowry acknowledging the complexity of the situation. The Raptors have paid him handsomely, and they’re an NBA-best 21-5 in part because of the trade for Leonard. It seems Lowry loves his job.

But that doesn’t mean he must love every aspect and adore every co-worker.
