Jeff Teague calls Timberwolves’ players-only meeting fake news, Jimmy Butler confirms it happened

Jimmy Butler reportedly called a players-only meeting for the Timberwolves.

Or did he?

Minnesota point guard Jeff Teague:

The Timberwolves are clearly fractured. Perhaps, we still didn’t appreciate the extent of the divide if they can’t even agree on whether a meeting took place.

Not what was said in the meeting. Not the mood of the meeting. Not how players felt leaving the meeting.

But whether the meeting actually happened.

After Butler’s fevered practice yesterday, Teague tried to downplay the strife. Teague, via Chris Hine of the Minneapolis StarTribune:

“I’ve been around the league,” Teague said. “It’s my 10th year, so I’ve been a part of teams where a lot of things have been going on. It’s part of the game. I don’t think it’s distracting me. It may be distracting some other guys. Either way, man, I love Jimmy. Jimmy is my guy. But if he’s not here, then we’ve got a good team, too.”

Perhaps, Teague was just trying to quiet noise today, too. But that doesn’t work if Butler is confirming the meeting.
