There wasn’t a lot for Lakers fans to cheer Sunday night. James Harden, Eric Gordon and the Houston Rockets steamrolled the home team, Lonzo Ball played limited minutes (he has sore calves). Brandon Ingram keeps improving and seems to be turning a corner, Kyle Kuzma continues to score well for a rookie, but it was the kind of game that is a reminder how far the Lakers have to go to reach the top again.
On the bright side, Larry Nance Jr. threw down an impressive alley-oop.
During the third quarter, Ingram threw the pass and Nance cut away from P.J. Tucker — who is a good defender but isn’t about to get up that high to block this play — and Nance caught it and threw it down with one hand. That’s the kind of dunk that would make his old man proud.
Nance finished the night with 15 points.
