Training camp is just a few weeks away, and when it starts for the Knicks Carmelo Anthony is likely going to be there. While the Knicks and Anthony may both want to move on, trade talks to send him to Houston have stalled out, and unless ‘Melo broadens the list of teams he will waive his no trade for beyond Houston, or if a team can be found to take on Ryan Anderson and his contract, Anthony will remain a Knick.

He is working out with new Knicks rookie Frank Ntilikina and others, Ntilikina told ESPN.

Knicks rookie Frank Ntilikina told reporters at Yankee Stadium, including ESPN’s Andrew Marchand, that he’s worked out with Carmelo Anthony, Lance Thomas and several other Knicks as training camp approaches. Asked about Melo’s uncertain future, Ntilikina said, “We were just focusing on playing and whatever will happen, will happen. We’ll see.” Ntilikina shares a trainer, Chris Brickley, with Anthony so it’s reasonable that they would work out together.

At this point in the summer, players are deep into workouts to be sharp for the season. Sometimes a player will organize team workouts — LeBron James is expected to do that for the Cavaliers in the coming couple of weeks — or agents organize workouts for their players. That’s what is happening here.

Kristaps Porzingis has been impressive through the group stage of EuroBasket, playing for Latvia.

Knicks training camp is going to be interesting. Not necessarily in a good way for Knicks fans.
