Kristaps Porzingis may or may not have had a feud with Knicks coach Jeff Hornacek. He certainly had one with Phil Jackson, about his treatment of Carmelo Anthony and how the organization was being run, but Jackson now is happily on his ranch in Montana. All that drama should be behind the Knicks.
The newest concern was how Porzingis’ knee was holding up after he missed part of the run up to EuroBasket with his native Latvia due to a bruise. He says that is fine now, reports Marc Berman of the New York Post (which also said there was no real issue between KP and Hornacek).
Latvia will begin the European Championships on Friday with Porzingis, who says his mild knee bruise is “90 to 95 percent” healed after missing some of the country’s exhibition games. He also tweeted Friday he expects to be an All-Star next season.
In a depleted East he could be an All-Star, but first he has to get through EuroBasket. He looked pretty good in the team’s first game, moving well and having a few moments, getting his 18 points on 7-of-16 shooting. But he had his unicorn moments, as you can see in the video above.
Serbia won the game 92-82 behind 30 points from the Kings Bogdan Bogdanovc.
