Ice Cube bests LaVar Ball in four point shootout… and we use the word “shootout” loosely

LOS ANGELES — Earlier in the day, Los Angeles Big3 fans had been exhorting Charles Oakley to take some three-point shots.

In case they wanted to know what that looked like, LaVar Ball and Ice Cube held a much hyped four-point shooting contest later in the day at Staples Center. If LaVar won, Ice Cube was going to buy LaVar’s AAU team some Big Baller Brand Shoes (I imagine at full retail).

Ice Cube took the victory, however, was a shootout in the same way that Pat Riley’s Knicks vs. Mike Fratello’s Cavaliers circa 1994 was a “shootout.” Ice Cube made a couple buckets, LaVar had one, and even Charles Oakley might have won this event. Take a look, courtesy Jovan Buha of ESPN.

So LaVar will have to buy his AAU team some shoes. Oh, and another pair for himself as he gave his ZO2s to Rashad McCants after the shootout.
