Paul Millsap had just driven then hit a pull-up elbow jumper to give Atlanta a one-point lead with 7.9 seconds remaining, which he hoped would cap off a wild final minute of lead changes.
Darren Collison had other plans. After a time out (so the Kings took the ball out on their end), Collison popped out high to get the ball, and Atlanta’s Dennis Schroder was late coming out on him. Collison used Schroder’s momentum going the wrong way to get by him and create a little space, get inside and hit a lefty lay-up off the glass.
That shot would prove to be the game winner, capping a 22-point come-from-behind win for Sacramento at home. Matt Barnes sealed the win with a block on a Tim Hardaway Jr. shot (Hardaway finished with a game-high 28 points).
