Stephen Curry should not have tried to draw a charge on this play. He knows that now. We all do. But when Miami Heat forward James Johnson split the pick-and-roll beyond the 3-point line, it seemed like a good idea.
That all changed very quickly.
On Tuesday night during the game between the Golden State Warriors and the Heat, Johnson drove down the right side of the lane after splitting two Warriors defenders and the clock running down on the quarter.
Curry, who was sagging off his man on the left block to help, slid over and tried to step in to draw the offensive foul.
It did not work:
