The Los Angeles Lakers fought the good fight against one of the toughest defenses in the league on Tuesday night. The Utah Jazz and their vaunted stopping power had a hard time containing Julius Randle and the Lakers bench. Still, Los Angeles came up a little short against Utah.
Like, eight inches short.
With the ball in his hands and the clock running down, Lakers PG D'Angelo Russell needed to get a 3-pointer to win the game as Utah led Los Angeles, 102-100.
In isolation with 2.7 seconds left, Russell thought he had a good look at the game-winning shot from the right garden spot and decided to pull up on Joe Ingles.
It came up just short, gently kissing the nylon underneath the hoop as the Lakers lost the game by just two points.
