Kyrie Irving isn’t known for being particularly hot-headed, but something about Paul Pierce‘s screen on Thursday night got the better of him.
The Cleveland Cavaliers star was trying to fight around a screen set by Pierce near the right elbow when Pierce appeared to slightly shift his weight toward Irving.
Irving then ran into Pierce’s left hip, which produced a head kick from the Cavaliers point guard an an angry half-punch / arm flail into the Clipper vet’s ribs.
Pierce didn’t even really seem to notice:
Los Angeles beat the Cavaliers, 113-94. It was also the first time that LeBron James has ever lost a home game to the Clippers.
