Charlotte Hornets forward Marvin Williams will be out for at least a week as he recovers from a left knee injury suffered on Nov. 25 against the New York Knicks.

The sharp-shooting power forward suffered a hyperextended left knee during an OT loss to the Knicks, 113-111, and an MRI revealed a bone bruise.

A release from the team said that the MRI did not reveal any further structural damage.

Bone bruises can be serious as they are a fracture of some of the internal layers of the bone. Williams, 30, will sit out for Saturday’s back-to-back against the Knicks and will be re-evaluated in a week.

Williams is fourth on the team in minutes played this season, meaning Frank Kaminsky, Cody Zeller, and Spencer Hawes will have to step up and fill the void left by the former No. 2 overall pick.
