Matthew Dellavedova is an unlikely NBA hero, winning a championship in 2015-16 with the Cleveland Cavaliers before signing a 4-year, $38 million deal with the Milwaukee Bucks this summer.
He’s also in line for his own Hollywood biopic about his life.
According to Fox Sports Australia, the film is in pre-production and is apparently looking to be set in the vein of inspirational sports movies of years past.
Production is set to commence in Australia in 2017, with the film aiming to emulate the likes of Hoosiers and Rocky, according to the release.
“Delly’s inspirational story about overcoming the odds is one everyone can relate to,” [Manager Bruce] Kaider said. “In real-life, it played out just like a movie.”
“Everyone dreams of the one in a million chance of playing in the NBA, but this clue-collar kid actually achieved it,” [Producer Zachary] Green said. “I am looking forward to bringing his story to the big screen.”
The world needs a modern day Rudy. Maybe it will just be called “Matty”?
