CSN California has learned that the Kings intend to hold onto the 23-year-old big. They regard him as one of their best defenders and they like his efficiency and energy off the bench.
File this under: What else are they supposed to say? Whether or not they plan to keep Cauley-Stein, this is the logical stance for the Kings. It hopefully keeps him happy and focused, and if they reverse course and trade him, his displeasure would simultaneously become not their problem.
But his minutes per game are down from 21 last season two 14 this season, and he already has a couple DNP-CDs. As long he’s getting such a limited role and plays the same position as franchise center DeMarcus Cousins, there will be questions about Cauley-Stein’s future in Sacramento.
