Ty Lawson: Kings don’t take shootarounds seriously

The Kings’ offseason strategy was pretty straightforward.

They’re trying to establish a better culture after 10 straight losing seasons.

Sacramento signed veterans  Arron Afflalo, Matt Barnes, Anthony Tolliver and Garrett Temple. Dave Joerger replaced George Karl as coach.

But when you’re trying to escape basketball hell, it’s a long trek.

Ty Lawson:

Shootarounds, we don’t take them serious. Nobody takes them serious. So, we do the same thing, even five on oh. Our pace is the way we play in the game. So, if you want to change that, we’ve got to change it with ourselves. It’s got to be important to you.

The Kings are 4-8 and look a lot like they did previous years.

DeMarcus Cousins is talented, productive and moody. His supporting cast is underwhelming.

None of that is really a surprise.

But this team was supposed to be more focused and committed. Even if the on-court results didn’t turn yet due to the talent deficit, this year was supposed to be about setting a better tone.

It’s obviously not happening – and that’s a big problem in Sacramento, where even modest goals lead to disappointment.
