The Lakers have suddenly become fun, and this sequence against the Suns last night exemplifies so much of it.
Julius Randle draws an offensive foul by Tyson Chandler and makes sure the ref knows Chandler’s violation. Both players jaw at each other as they go down court. Randle lightly bumps Chandler. Chandler lightly pushed Randle. Randle swats Chandler’s arm away. The sequence earns them a double technical foul.
Once play resumes, Randle calls for the ball with Chandler guarding him. Everyone assumes Randle wants to take his newfound nemesis one-on-one, and Phoenix’s defense reacts accordingly. So what does Randle do? He kicks the ball to an open Jordan Clarkson, who makes a 3-pointer.
Playing with so much passion is impressive. Managing it while still making savvy decisions is another level.
