Let’s get the painful joke out of the way:
He didn’t take Derrick Rose‘s number with the Bulls, but Michael Carter-Williams followed No. 1 with a knee injury.
Chicago Bulls guard Michael Carter-Williams will miss 3-4 weeks with a bone bruise in his left knee, source told ESPN. Also suffered a sprained left wrist on Monday night.
Based on this timeline, Carter-Williams will miss 11-13 games.
This puts the Bulls’ rotation where it would have been before they traded for Carter-Williams. Isaiah Canaan likely plays more regularly behind Rajon Rondo with a chance Jerian Grant earns some minutes.
To a certain degree, Chicago can view Carter-Williams’ contributions as a bonus after trading a non-rotation player (Tony Snell) for him. This injury will just mean less of a bonus.
