Spurs hire former NBA player Landry Fields as a college scout

Landry Fields, a once-promising shooting guard from Stanford who played five seasons with the Knicks and Raptors from 2010 to 2015, appears to be done playing. The Spurs announced that they have hired the 28-year-old Fields as a college scout, among several other basketball-operations department hires.

From the team’s press release:

“Fields joins the Spurs after a five-year NBA playing career. An All-Rookie First Team Selection in 2011, Fields averaged 6.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 23.6 minutes in 255 career games with the New York Knicks and Toronto Raptors.”

Even though his NBA career didn’t go the way he’d planned, it’s good that Fields is going to still be able to stay involved with the sport and the league as a member of one of the NBA’s best front offices.
