Josh Richardson looked like part of the future in Miami. He had a solid rookie season in Miami, averaging 6.6 points a game on an efficient 56.9 true shooting percentage, he shot 46.1 percent from three, plus his length makes him a solid defender. Richardson looked like a guy ready to take a step forward this season. He was going to get a lot of run, splitting minutes at the two with Dion Waiters, trying to fill Dwyane Wade‘s shoes.
Except that plan has had a setback, as reported by Shams Charania of The Vertical of Yahoo Sports.
There are a lot of unanswered questions here about the severity of the tear, how long Richardson could be out, and if surgery is required. Safe to say he’s not going to be ready to go at the start of training camp in three weeks regardless, but it may not be that severe.
Still, this is a setback for a Heat team that could be pretty good if it stays healthy. And if Chris Bosh gets cleared to play by team doctors.
