Report: Heat bringing back Beno Udrih on one-year deal

In March, Beno Udrih, out for the season with an injury, agreed to a buyout with the Heat, essentially giving up $90,000 in order to help Miami scrape under the luxury tax. So it’s no surprise that the Heat are now taking care of the veteran point guard on the back end, with The Vertical‘s Shams Charania reporting that they’ve agreed to a one-year guaranteed deal.

It seems likely, given the circumstances, that there was some sort of implicit agreement between the Heat and Udrih that they would bring him back if he did them a solid by giving up money in the short term to help them dodge the tax. Such agreements aren’t allowed under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, but it’s a common practice.
