Despite once being projected as a lottery pick, Kentucky forward Alex Poythress went undrafted in June. Now, he’s agreed to a deal with the Indiana Pacers, according to The Vertical‘s Adrian Wojnarowski, and will likely spend the year in the D-League.
University of Kentucky free-agent forward Alex Poythress has agreed to a partially guaranteed contract with the Indiana Pacers, league sources told The Vertical.
Poythress, 22, who went undrafted in June, will likely spend the season with the Pacers’ NBA Development League affiliate in Fort Wayne, league sources said.
Leading into the 2013 draft, Poythress was widely thought to be a lottery-level talent, but he chose to stay at Kentucky and missed significant time in 2014-15 with a torn ACL, which seriously hurt his NBA prospects. Now, he’ll get a chance to prove himself in Pacers camp.
