The Hawks traded starting point guard Jeff Teague to elevate backup Dennis Schroder. They also used all or nearly all their cap space to sign Dwight Howard and re-sign Kent Bazemore.
So where would they get a backup point guard?
Atlanta is turning to Malcolm Delaney, who has played overseas since his four-year career at Virginia Tech ended in 2011.
Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports:
This is likely for somewhere between the minimum ($543,471) and room exception ($2,898,000).
Delaney is a score-first point guard with a nice outside shot. Atlanta might also look for a more-experienced point guard, but Delaney is more likely than not to make positive contributions from day one.
