Report: Nets sign former Heat center Justin Hamilton to two-year deal

It’s hard to find good value signings with the exploding salary cap, but the Nets have found one in former Heat, Bobcats and Timberwolves center Justin Hamilton. The Vertical‘s Shams Charania reports that they agreed to a deal Friday afternoon:

Free-agent center Justin Hamilton has agreed to a two-year, $6 million deal with the Brooklyn Nets, league sources told The Vertical.

Hamilton and his representatives at Priority Sports finalized the agreement Friday afternoon.

Finding players at the bottom of the market seems to be the strategy for new Nets GM Sean Marks, since Brooklyn isn’t a destination for the marquee free agents and they don’t have much in the way of picks or young prospects. Even if Hamilton doesn’t pan out, $3 million per year is nothing under the new salary cap, so this is a no-risk move.
