They may have lost in six games to the Cavaliers, but 2015-16 was the best season in Toronto Raptors franchise history. They reached the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time ever and won 56 games. Kyle Lowry, the team’s All-Star point guard, thanked fans for the season with an open letter posted on his Twitter account Thursday:
The Raptors, who just locked up head coach Dwane Casey to a three-year extension, have a big offseason ahead. DeMar DeRozan is expected to opt out of his contract and become a free agent, and he’ll almost certainly command a max deal on the open market. The Raptors also own the ninth overall pick in the draft, a leftover from the Andrea Bargnani trade in 2013. The franchise is in a good place, and fans should feel good about their future.
