Wade Baldwin is probably best known for being on the receiving end of Kevin Stallings public sportsmanship lesson, in which the then-Vanderbilt coach told Baldwin, “I’ll f—ing kill you.”
You should also recognize Baldwin as an NBA prospect.
Jon Rothstein of CBSSports.com:
Good move by Baldwin declaring for the draft and hiring an agent. He should be a first-round pick. The only question is how high of one. An agent can help him maximize his draft stock.
Baldwin is a strong point guard who shoots well from outside and possesses quality court vision. That’s the base of a productive NBA point guard.
He excels at creating easy opportunities for himself and others – an underrated skill – but that will be much harder against better athletes in the NBA. Baldwin won’t get as many transition chances at the next level. Without elite athleticism or much of a mid-range game, I’m not sure how Baldwin replaces some of the easier looks he created in two years at Vanderbilt (again, a skill).
Baldwin looks like a relatively high-floor, low-ceiling choice.
