Butler missed a month with a strained left knee, returned to play 34 minutes against the Rockets and then missed three more games with knee swelling.
But Butler will be back for tonight’s Bulls-Raptors game.
Butler, via Vincent Goodwill of CSN Chicago:
“Gotta risk it to get the biscuit! Gotta risk it to get the biscuit,” when asked about the possibility of re-injury.
“No, no specific number,” said Butler when asked about a minute restriction. “They said they’ll be watching. I’ll be watching, too.”
“My job is to help us win,” Butler said. “I don’t know what situation you may call that. Go out there and do what it takes to win.”
The Bulls are 32-32 and one game out of playoff position. Simply, they’ve looked like a playoff team when Butler plays and a lottery team when he hasn’t.
Unfortunately for them, Butler’s absences have put them in a hole in the crowded Eastern Conference. Chicago will have to outplay the Pistons or Pacers and hold off the Wizards down the stretch. As much as Butler helps on both ends of the floor, that won’t be an easy task.
I like Chicago’s chances with a healthy Butler, and getting him back on the court is a huge step. But keeping him there – which didn’t happen last time – will be the key.
