The Knicks’ long-standing dalliance with Tony Wroten is finally going somewhere.
Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports:
The Knicks, over the cap and having used the full room exception, have no apparent way to offer Wroten a three-year contract. They’re seemingly limited to the minimum exception, and that can be used on just a two-year contract.
Wroten is a scoring guard who doesn’t shoot nearly efficiently enough to justify his high usage. But, the No. 25 pick in the 2012 NBA draft, Wrotten is just 22.
He seems like a poor fit for the triangle at face value, but the offensive scheme could do wonders for him. Wroten is talented, and if he buys into New York’s system, it could help refine the rough points in his game.
