The Knicks didn’t make a trade before the deadline, but a day later, they’re adding an All-Star.

A D-League All-Star.

Jimmer Fredette, come on down.

Ian Begley of ESPN:

Sam Amick of USA Today:

If Fredette signs today, the Knicks would get their money’s worth. They have six games in the next 10 days:

  • at Nets tonight
  • at Timberwolves tomorrow
  • vs. Raptors on Monday
  • at Pacers on Wednesday
  • vs. Magic on Feb. 26
  • vs. Heat on Feb. 28

Fredette, who the Knicks considered signing for a while, has plenty of name recognition. But he doesn’t move the needle on the court.

New York, like the Pelicans earlier this season, probably won’t use him much. Fredette provides depth, and that’s all – no matter what he and his fans think.
