Report: Thunder in advanced talks with Nuggets on Randy Foye trade

The Thunder have a defensive shooting guard: Andre Roberson. They have an offensive shooting guard: Anthony Morrow. They have a defective shooting guard: Dion Waiters.

And soon, they might have another shooting guard: Randy Foye.

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports:

Roberson projects to return soon from injury. Unless that timetable has changed, I’m unsure how Foye fits.

Foye takes a majority of his shots from beyond the arc, but he makes less than 30% of them. He’s not much of a defender, and he’s too small to help on the glass. He adds value with his ability to play point guard, but Oklahoma City is also deep there with Russell Westbrook, Cameron Payne and D.J. Augustin.

As much grief as Waiters justifiably gets, he has worked to improve his outside shooting. I might play him over Foye.

Perhaps, the trade is for Kyle Singler or Steve Novak, and the Thunder’s prerogative is trimming salary in a year they’re in line to pay the luxury tax.
