Atlanta reportedly had “serious internal discussions” about trading Al Horford, Jeff Teague and Kyle Korver.

But it seems the Hawks would deal only if they could outrageous return.

Apparently, they realized that won’t happen.

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports:

Teague certainly qualifies as a key guard. Do Korver (despite his age) and Dennis Schröder (despite his backup role)? I’d think so, but it’s not a certainty.

This could be a negotiating ploy by the Hawks to force teams to increase their offers, but the report’s face value is accurate more likely than not. Now, the pressure is on Atlanta to finish the season strong and convince Horford to re-sign. The Hawks can address the Teague-Schröder issue down the road.

Horford and Teague were two of the most attractive pieces seemingly on the market. Some teams might have held up other negotiations to pursue those two.

Now, maybe a silent-so-far deadline day will finally get buzzing.
