It shouldn’t take this kind of effort to beat the Sixers, but Jimmy Butler did what needed to be done on Thursday night. With Derrick Rose and Pau Gasol out, Butler scored a career-high 53 points in the Bulls’ 115-111 overtime in Philadelphia.
Here’s the basket that got him his 49th and 50th points of the night:
Butler is the third player this season to score at least 50 points in a game, joining Stephen Curry and James Harden, and tying Curry for most points scored in a game this season. He was also the fourth player in Bulls history to score at least 50 points in a game, joining Chet Walker, Michael Jordan and Jamal Crawford. Not bad timing, considering there’s one week remaining in All-Star balloting.
