Raptors forward DeMarre Carroll, who was battling foot and knee injuries, has already missed 13 games this season.

That number will likely rise significantly.

Raptors release:

The Toronto Raptors announced Wednesday forward DeMarre Carroll had arthroscopic surgery this morning on his right knee. The procedure was performed by Dr. David Altchek at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. Carroll’s status will be updated as appropriate.

This has been a season to forget for Carroll, who was Toronto’s prized free-agent signing last summer.

The Raptors (21-15) have succeed in spite of him. He’s not defending or rebounding at his previous levels, and he’s settling for too many mid-range jumpers.

Simply, he looks like someone playing hurt – and that’s probably the best-case scenario. It would at least explain his troubles.

Maybe this surgery will allow him to fully heal and get a reset on his Toronto’s tenure. Though the Raptors have played better without him this season, he still raises their ceiling.
