Marcus Morris calls Brandon Knight soft

The Suns had a two-point lead and the ball with 23 seconds left against the Pistons last week – a pretty big advantage.

But Marcus Morris – traded by by Phoenix last summer – stole a Brandon Knight pass, and Detroit forced overtime then won.

David Mayo of MLive:

Whether Morris anticipated the play because of his time as Knight’s teammate, he didn’t say.

“I don’t know. What I do know is that he’s soft,” Morris said of Knight. “Soft. He panicked. So when you’re like that, that’s the type of stuff that happens.”

Morris doesn’t have much of a filter – especially when it comes to the Suns. He has expressed bitterness over them trading him, said he should’ve started over P.J. Tucker and stated his desire to disrespect them. Morris sure disrespected one of them here.

Is Knight soft? I don’t think he’s the toughest player, but I don’t consider him soft. He just doesn’t have great court vision, and the Pistons’ trap exacerbated that problem. Morris made an excellent read and left his man to steal the ball.

If Knight is soft, I don’t think that play is the best way to show it.
