When the Spurs play the Grizzlies on Saturday, they might be without LaMarcus Aldridge. He sprained his left ankle in San Antonio’s loss to New Orleans on Friday night and is still feeling some discomfort.
“[It’s] pretty tight right now, but we’ll re-evaluate it in the morning and see how it feels,” Aldridge said.
Aldridge sprained the ankle with 8:56 left in the first quarter, when he stepped on the foot of New Orleans’Alonzo Gee after missing a shot. Aldridge immediately left the game and walked to the locker room to get the ankle taped. He re-entered the contest in the second quarter and played the rest of the way, finishing with 20 points, 11 rebounds, two assists and a blocked shot.
The fact that Aldridge was able to keep playing after the injury would indicate that it isn’t too serious, but it might be smart to hold him out for this game just to be on the safe side. We’ll know more later on.
