Vlade Divac OKs DeMarcus Cousins’ rant, says it wasn’t at George Karl

DeMarcus Cousins reportedly went on a profanity-laced tirade at Kings coach George Karl, a story confirmed by multiple outlets. Whatever Cousins did, Karl reportedly wanted him suspended.

Not only did Kings general manager Vlade Divac refuse to suspend Cousins, Divac approved of Cousins’ actions.

Marc J. Spears of Yahoo Sports:

Divac says Karl will coach the rest of the season, but you have to wonder how Karl feels about this episode. It’s one thing for Divac to believe Cousins’ behavior, even if inappropriate, didn’t warrant a suspension. It’s another to explicitly OK it.

I don’t know exactly what Cousins said or how he said it, but Karl clearly felt it crossed a line. That means something, even if Karl’s interpretation of events is unfair.

For what it’s worth, Cousins’ apology noted his frustration wasn’t about a single person. That appears to be the story – true or not – he and Divac are going with.

Karl might have to just eat this and smile.
