Nate Robinson’s Pelicans tenure went downhill quickly.

Pelicans release:

The New Orleans Pelicans announced today that the team has waived guard Nate Robinson.

Robinson missed his only shot, dished five assists and committed five fouls in 23 minutes for New Orleans, which has lost to the Warriors and Trail Blazers this season. There just isn’t enough reason to believe the 31-year-old Robinson will turn the corner.

But the Pelicans remain in a point guard pickle. Jrue Holiday is on a tight minute limit, and Norris Cole and Tyreke Evans are injured. Can Ish Smith alone handle big minutes behind Holiday?

I wouldn’t be surprised if New Orleans uses its now-vacated roster spot on another point guard – though injuries to Omer Asik, Quincy Pondexter and Luke Babbitt leave holes across the depth chart.
