Carmelo Anthony: I ‘hated’ Sasha Vujacic, now a fellow Knick

In 2007 – when Carmelo Anthony played for the Nuggets and Sasha Vujacic played for the Lakers – the players got into an altercation.

Anthony grabbed Vujacic’s neck. Vujacic dramatically clutched his throat. Anthony was ejected.

Now Vujacic’s teammate on the Knicks, Anthony is talking bluntly about Vujacic.

Anthony, via Adam Zagoria of SNY.tv:

“I hated Sasha,” Anthony said after practice Sunday. “I hated Sasha. We got into it a couple of times. He was one of them little dirty players, sneaky, grab your jersey, foul you after the play. He was speaking in his language and now I understand what he was saying to me — it makes me hate him even more back then.

“Having him on my team is a big plus, knowing how feisty he is. He’s a vet. He knows how to play the game. He knows the system. I think having him is a big plus.”

The best teammates are often the most-loathed opponents.

That’s why having a Teammate of the Year award where players can’t voted for their own teammates is so silly.
