Anthony Bennett is headed home. After taking a buyout from the Timberwolves, where he spent one underwhelming season, his hometown Raptors have signed him. Yahoo’s Shams Charania reports that it’s a one-year deal at the veteran’s minimum:
Bennett himself confirmed on Twitter that the deal is official:
Bennett has had a rough go of things since being the No. 1 overall pick in the 2013 draft: he was out of shape and injured in his rookie season in Cleveland and barely played in Minnesota after being essentially a throw-in in the Andrew Wiggins/Kevin Love trade. The hope is that a return to his hometown will increase his comfort level — he’s only 22, so there is optimism that he can still turn into a productive NBA player.
