Instead, Moreland re-signed with the Kings.
Detroit seemingly found a big-man replacement – Jordan Bachynski
Shams Charania of RealGM:
Bachynski has little chance of making Detroit’s regular-season roster. The Pistons have 17 players – two more than the regular-season roster limit – with guaranteed salaries. It will be difficult enough cutting two of them (likely Danny Granger and one of Cartier Martin or Reggie Bullock, with more pressure on the former).
Dropping three for Bachynski – a 7-foot-2 center who went undrafted out of Arizona State in 2014 – is much more unlikely. Detroit already has three centers: Andre Drummond, Aron Baynes and Joel Anthony.
Bachynski gives the Pistons 20 players, the offseason limit. So, this is probably the group – with Adonis Thomas and Eric Griffin as the other players without fully guaranteed salaries – Detroit takes to training camp.
And for what it’s worth, the Pistons can’t waive Bachynski and assign his D-League rights to their affiliate. His D-League rights are already held by the Westchester Knicks.
