Report: Pelicans signing Chris Douglas-Roberts

Let’s jump straight to the most important question: Will he keep wearing the shorts?

Chris Douglas-Roberts wore short shorts with the Clippers last season – at least until they traded him to the Celtics, who waived him.

Now, he’ll get another chance in New Orleans.

Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports:

Scott Kushner of The Advocate:

The Pelicans have 13 players with guaranteed salaries plus Norris Cole, who has an outstanding qualifying offer. Even if there’s only one vacancy for the 15-man regular-season roster, Bryce Dejean-Jones, Sean Kilpatrick and Corey Webster aren’t the most formidable competition.

If New Orleans’ roster remains as is for training camp – and it probably won’t – I’d expect Douglas-Roberts to make the team.

He’s a decent scorer and has the length and agility to defend fine, though he usually doesn’t. The Pelicans need depth on the wing behind Tyreke Evans, Eric Gordon, Quincy Pondexter, Alonzo Gee and Luke Babbitt – especially if Evans has to play point guard when Jrue Holiday sits.
