Kevin Durant: “I’m still the best player in the world”

If there’s one thing Kevin Durant is this year, it’s motivated. Coming off an MVP season in 2013-14, he played in just 27 games last season while battling foot injuries. When he’s healthy, he knows that he’s one of the best players in the world, and he’s hungry to prove that. He’s not lacking for confidence: at a recent appearance in Spain, he told a group of fans that he believes he’s still the best player in the world (h/t CBS Sports):

You wouldn’t expect Durant to say anything else in answer to that question. He didn’t get where he is by not being confident in his own abilities, and when he’s healthy, he has a legitimate claim to being the best basketball player in the world. I’d still give the edge to LeBron James in that discussion, but it’s not a ridiculous notion. Hopefully Durant can stay healthy this year and prove himself right.
