It’s been less than 24 hours since TMZ broke the news of a lawsuit being filed against Derrick Rose in civil court by an ex-girlfriend, claiming Rose and two of his friends drugged and raped her in 2013. Through a spokesperson, Rose issued a lengthy statement denying the claims. Now, Rose has issued a second statement, this one directly from him, to USA Today‘s Sam Amick:
“I am just focusing on staying healthy and getting ready for the season,” Rose said in the statement. “I am not going to comment other than to say – I know the truth, and am confident I will be proven innocent.”
That’s about all Rose could have said at this point. It would be irresponsible to speculate about his guilt or innocence with how little information is known.
