Report: Thunder sign Dez Wells

The Thunder have 15 players, the regular-season limit. All of them have guaranteed salaries.

But that doesn’t mean they’re done adding to their roster.

J. Michael of broke the story. He notes that Wells got invites from six teams, including the Wizards, but chose OKC.

Wells played both guard positions in college, but at 6-foot-4, he projects as a shooting guard in the pros. He’s strong and explosive and dribbles well. The biggest knock: He wasn’t quite as productive as you’d hope for a four-year college player.

Even if Wells impresses in training camp, the Thunder will be reluctant to eat a guaranteed salary and pay the resulting luxury-tax hit. Most likely, they waive Wells and his assign his D-League rights to Oklahoma City Blue.
