Hawks forward Mike Scott was arrested on Thursday at a traffic stop for felony drug possession, according to Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Scott was charged with possession of marijuana and MDMA, the latter of which is a Schedule I drug.
Hawks head coach and president Mike Budenholzer issued the following statement about Scott’s arrest:
“We are aware of the situation involving Mike Scott this morning. Out of respect for the legal process, we will not have any additional comments at this time.”
Scott isn’t the only Hawks player currently involved in a legal battle. Thabo Sefolosha has an upcoming court appearance in relation to the April incident at a nightclub in New York that involved an altercation with an NYPD officer and resulted in a broken leg for Sefolosha.
In the coming days, more information will come out about the circumstances surrounding Scott’s arrest, but this kind of drama is never something that’s welcomed by teams.
Scott averaged 7.8 points and 2.9 rebounds per game in 36 games for the Hawks last season.
