The Nuggets’ coaching search was supposed to cast a wide net, including Michael Malone, Mike D’Antoni, Scott Skiles and Alvin Gentry.
And it might have.
But it appears to be landing on a familiar face, interim coach Melvin Hunt.
Jared Zwerling of Bleacher Report:
Hunt did a solid job after Denver fired Brian Shaw at midseason, and that matters.
But the question the Nuggets should ask themselves: If Hunt weren’t already in the organization, would they hire him?
At this point, it doesn’t matter where Hunt worked last year. Denver should hire the person it believes will do the best job over the next several years.
That might be Hunt, but I’d want to talk to D’Antoni before making that determination.
