David Blatt ‘encouraged’ by Kyrie Irving practicing

Kyrie Irving left Game 6 of the Cavaliers-Bulls series with a left-knee injury, but the Cleveland point guard said he could have played if necessary.

Irving’s presence wasn’t necessary in Saturday’s practice, so he didn’t participate.

It wasn’t necessary in today’s practice, either, but – in a positive sign – he participated.

Dave McMenamin of ESPN:

The Cavaliers might be better than expected without Irving – which would mean more LeBron James – but they’re clearly plain better with Irving.

It seems he’s trending toward playing Game 1 Wednesday.
