Former players far too often talk glowingly about their era and denigrate current current. “Back in my day, we walked to games uphill – both ways – and played the full 48 minutes harder than these kids today. Get off my lawn”… etc., etc.
But Allen Iverson refreshingly goes the other way.
“Those guys are next level. I didn’t have the handle they do.”
Let me just say one more time how nice it is to hear Iverson compliment two current players at the expense of himself.
But I think Iverson is wrong.
Curry and Irving are great ball-handlers, but they’re also far better shooters than Iverson ever was. That gives them space to operate that Iverson never had. Defenders could play a step farther back from Iverson. Do that to Curry or Irving, and they’ll drill a jumper.
